Setting up your profile

How to make your profile findable in about fifteen minutes.

Your profile is how the platform finds you. Most of it is maintained automatically; the part only you can do is skills and preferences, and it takes about fifteen minutes.

What is automatic

Name, grade, location, practice area and reporting line sync from HR. Work history syncs from the staffing system, and skills are inferred from it over time. Do not re-type any of this.

Adding skills

  1. Open Profile → Skills → Add skills.
  2. Type a skill and pick from the suggestions. The suggestions are the ontology; a skill chosen from them is matchable, free text is not.
  3. Aim for eight to twelve skills you actively want work in. More is not better - a fifty-skill profile signals nothing strongly.
  4. For your top three or four, set the proficiency level honestly. Requesters can filter on it, and inflated levels surface in delivery.

What to leave out

Skills you hold but no longer want to use. Listing them makes you discoverable for that work. If you are moving away from something, remove it and record the direction in development goals instead - matching treats goals as a positive signal for stretch assignments.

Preferences and availability

Availability comes from the staffing system, so do not maintain it by hand. Preferences (travel, sector interests, working pattern notes) are read by humans reviewing shortlists, not by the matching engine. Keep them short.

Keeping it current

Set a quarterly reminder: prune one stale skill, confirm proficiencies, update goals. Fifteen minutes a quarter keeps you accurately findable.
