Getting started with ProFinda · lesson 1 of 4

Signing in and finding your way around

In this lesson

  • Sign in through your organisation's single sign-on
  • Locate the main areas of ProFinda from the home screen

You do not create a ProFinda account. Your organisation has connected ProFinda to the same sign-in system you already use for email and other work tools, so the first time you open it you will be asked for your normal work credentials, not a new password to remember.

Signing in

Go to the ProFinda link your organisation has shared, usually a subdomain such as yourfirm.profinda.com. You will be redirected to your organisation’s sign-in page, prompted for your usual credentials and any multi-factor step your firm requires, and then returned to ProFinda already signed in. If you are already signed in elsewhere in your browser, this can happen without you seeing a login screen at all.

The four areas

Once in, the top navigation is the same for everyone, though what you land on first depends on your role:

  • Search - find people against a set of skills, availability, and location criteria. This is where most resourcing activity happens.
  • My requests - the demand you have raised or been assigned to fulfil, with their current status.
  • Reports - the views built for your team, from a simple utilisation chart to a full dashboard.
  • My profile - your own skills, availability, and preferences, which is what makes you discoverable to other people’s searches.

Your home screen is not everyone’s home screen

ProFinda personalises the home screen to your role. A resourcing lead sees a queue of open requests; a consultant sees their own upcoming availability and profile completeness; a partner might see a small set of reports. If a colleague describes a screen you cannot find, check whether they are looking at a role-specific view rather than something you are missing.

Getting oriented quickly

  1. Open My profile first, even before you search for anything. You will spend time here in the next lesson, and seeing your own record helps the rest of the platform make sense.
  2. Run one search, for any skill, just to see what a results page looks like. You are not trying to find anyone yet.
  3. Open Reports and note which reports already exist for your team. You will likely use one of these rather than building your own.

None of this requires getting anything right. The goal for your first ten minutes is simply to know where the four areas are, so that later, task-driven lessons make sense in context rather than in the abstract.

Key takeaways

  • You sign in with your existing work account; there is no separate ProFinda password
  • The top navigation has four areas - search, my requests, reports, and my profile
  • Your home screen is personalised to your role, so colleagues may see a different layout
